Kapok is ideal for use in futon mattresses because the body’s perspiration is not absorbed by the Kapok fiber. Therefore, the kapok stays dry, leaving it free from bacteria and mildew. For this reason, kapok is particularly well suited for use in warm, tropical climates. The natural bitter constituents of the Kapok fiber are anti-bacterial and anti-microbial; therefore mites, and other microorganisms will not infest the mattress.
